Social Awareness
Aarambh Trust for Women and Children undertook a unique and inspiring environmental initiative by developing a park entirely from waste and discarded materials. The project creatively reused items such as old tyres, plastic bottles, and other recyclable waste, transforming them into functional and aesthetic elements of a public green space.
The park was aptly named “Ecomitra”, symbolising friendship with the environment and promoting the message of sustainability, reuse, and responsible living. What was once waste became benches, play structures, planters, and decorative features, demonstrating how innovation and environmental consciousness can go hand in hand.
Located in H-Pocket, Sarita Vihar, the park was later handed over to the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), ensuring its long-term maintenance and public accessibility. Today, Ecomitra stands as a model park, admired for its eco- friendly design and community impact.
This initiative not only beautified the area but also created awareness among residents—especially children-about waste management, recycling, and environmental responsibility. Ecomitra is a shining example of how sustainable ideas, when thoughtfully executed, can create lasting change and inspire communities to care for their
surroundings.
